Full Time Application Closes 20 May 2024 Hawkes Bay - Hastings Health Educator Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) has an exciting opportunity for a special person to join our successful healthy lifestyles team as a He Kai Oranga Educator focussed on helping whanau and their families with healthy choices.TToH is a whanau focused, kaupapa Maori values based, health and social services organisation providing professional health services to our local Hawkes Bay community and wider Eastern region community from Mahia to Rimutaka. Our health, social, education and community development teams have been working successfully with whanau for over 38 years.Reporting to the Team Manager and based in our clinic in Flaxmere Village, this role works closely with the Kai Oranga Co-ordinator and Health Coaches in our clinic. This role will provide nutrition counselling and education, workforce support, training, health promotion and activities like Maara Kai (community gardening) programmes. This is a permanent position, 36 hours a week (0.9 FTE) working Monday to Friday. Ideal candidates would:· Have proven experience working effectively within the community · Be able to motivate, educate, empower, coach and influence whanau· Be a great team member and work well as part of an integrated team· Develop relationships, networks and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders· Be an ambassador for health and wellbeing · Have experience with facilitating training and conducting one on ones· Comfortable working in the local communityEssential skills and Qualifications:· Ideally you will have a Level 5 Certificate in Public Health and Health Promotion or similar qualification like Sports and Recreation, Nutrition· Previous experience in the community health sector including event management and/or coaching and group activities· A Full and current driver's licence· COVID vaccination· Knowledge and understanding of tikanga and Te Reo Maori or a willingness to learn· A current First Aid Certificate is advantageous· Be skilled with computers and using databases and recording effective notesWhat we offer you:We offer a competitive salary, 5 weeks annual leave, Southern Cross Health Insurance, Life insurance, Birthday leave, Career opportunities and loads of other benefits working for a positive, friendly, values based organisation that cares about its staff.
